Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas tidy. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
