Inventor Jerome Case established the business of CASE in Racine, when he started the building of threshing machinery. Later the company gained recognition globally as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. By 1912, Case had become established in the construction machinery business. The rapidly began to produce road building equipment such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment business through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top manufacturer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for marketing some of the top brands of construction and agricultural equipment in the globe.
