How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that could have otherwise needed using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right option for completing jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be parked next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
