Types of Tires
Generally, cushion tires are solid tires that have no tread pattern. They are mostly made to be utilized on smooth and solid surfaces, normally indoors. There are tread patterns available however, which are more suitable for different surface environments. The cushion tires are common on smooth warehouse floors and in similar applications.
However, pneumatic tires require air and have been specially designed for outdoor use on loose surfaces and uneven ground. Pneumatic truck tires have higher ground clearance also. This raises the center of gravity of the forklift and greatly lessens its rated lift capacity. More often than not, pneumatic tires are used in rough terrain surroundings due to their ability to negotiate uneven surfaces in a smoother manner. A lot of construction sites and agricultural or mining applications depend on these tires so as to make sure the machine is able to travel as safe and carefully as possible.
Lift Capacity and Lift Height
It is important to know the maximum weight and dimensions of the loads you would be handling in order to determine the capacity of the vehicle needed. Furthermore, you would have to know the maximum fork height needed in order to stack or rack the loads. These factors, the lifting height and the load size, greatly affect the truck's lifting capacity. A larger size load could move the center of gravity of the vehicle and change the load combination. This decreases the machine's lifting capacity and affects the load being lifted and the height. Using different kinds of attachments could also affect the truck's overall capacity.
Mast Options
On the market nowadays are several different choices of forklift masts. These include: single, double, triple and quad masts. The number indicated the amount of sections on the mast. In various circumstances, you will not be needed to make any choices since the lift height would dictate the type of mast you would get, however, in trucks with really high lift heights, you could have an alternative.
