Forklift Classifications
Below are the classes of forklifts which describe the application and fuel option of each kind of forklift. Certification is truly necessary for each and every class of forklift which the operator will be utilizing.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts are available with either pneumatic tires or cushion tires. Pneumatic tires are recommended during dry conditions for outdoor application. The cushion tired models are designed for indoor, smooth surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles that use industrial batteries, which make them desirable inside closed environments where air quality is an issue. Hoist functions and travel are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units normally utilized everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
This forklift is recommended for environments where narrow aisles have to be negotiated. They are efficient at maximizing the use of storage space. Their unique design makes them perfect where speed is required and for small spaces.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These are battery-powered and hand-controlled models. Making use of a steering tiller, the operator could operate the lift while standing in front of the truck. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved sideways to steer the vehicle. The units which have smaller capacity use industrial batteries.
