Boomlift / Manlift Fullerton

Used Boom Lift Fullerton - The boom lift is one of the most popular kinds of aerial machinery. Commonly known as aerial work platforms, mobile elevating work platforms, cherry pickers, aerial devices and elevating work platforms, it was engineered to complete work at higher locations more efficient and easier. Many industries rely on boom lifts every day including retail locations, construction contractors, companies and warehouses. Keeping workers safe as they access conditions in a higher altitude is priceless. There is a wide variety of boom lift models to choose from. A single operator can control a variety of boom lift models. This machine is popular for harvesting fruit in locations such as orchards that historically relied on climbing dangerous ladders. Ladders need to be secured on solid, even ground in order to be safely accessible, making them hard to rely on in a natural orchard setting. Boom lifts make it much easier to reach high tree tops for collecting fruit. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Boom lifts make working over top of obstacle much easier as many models have been engineered to travel up and over items. Boom lifts can reach items even when it is impossible to move the machine right underneath the area you are working in, making it possible to fix overhead cables within telephone line and pole installation, window cleaning applications and similar circumstances. The articulated boom lift is an example that has numerous joints enabling it to bend over or under items. The articulated boom sections can move independently to grant operators access to many locations. Famous for their tight turning radius, articulated booms offer an ideal solution for narrow hallways and storage facilities. Dual-fuel models can work both inside and outside. Diesel versions are best suited outside and electric models are preferred for interior environments. Articulating Boom Lifts Articulated boom lifts are commonly found on construction sites and used in maintenance applications. These machines are often seen servicing overhead wires and power lines. Certain models are outfitted with water cannons to be used in firefighting applications. Some models are built for extended reach applications and outfitted with telescoping sections. Some articulating boom lift models have an extra jib to enable their platform to reach six feet further in any direction. These boom lifts go by the nickname of “spiders,” since their legs can support the entire machine on steep or difficult terrain. Interior articulating boom lifts are smaller and able to fit through doorways for use inside storage, warehouse and retail capacities. Interior models are typically electric boom lifts due to their lack of dangerous carbon monoxide exhaust and quieter features. Telescopic Boom Lifts Telescopic boom lifts do not bend the way articulating boom lifts do. Instead, they extend outwards and upwards with hydraulics that retract and extend. The operator who is situated in the platform has the controls to operate and extend the lift on their own. Certain larger and taller models feature a jib located close to the top similar to an articulating boom lift model. There are models on the market capable of reaching over 180 feet. These machines are built to be stable and reliable. Some are able to extend to their full height capacity in less than 60 seconds. There are dual-fuel and diesel models available. Weight range capacities vary from 500 lbs. to 1000 lbs. and speed is adjustable. Available in 4WD and the ability to fit through small spaces. Telescopic booms are common in a variety of settings due to their ability to combine height and reach. Jib The jib is the extension found at the end of the main boom and between the platform. This design facilitates an extra hinge or articulation point to enable the platform to move up and down or horizontally. Jibs are an option on many telescoping and articulating boom lifts. There is an articulation point available on certain models situated halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow the machine to reach over an obstacle and be lowered again if needed. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts A popular type of articulating boom lift manufactured on the market is the Genie Z-boom Model. Designed to provide the most versatility in difficult to access spaces, this model has the capacity to lift up, over and out with superior positioning. The first articulating Genie Z-30/20 boom was launched in 1985. These machines became immediately popular with their up-and-over design that continues to make them sought after nowadays. Proper Safety Measures When operating any type of industrial equipment, safety is first and foremost. It is essential that all potential safety hazards are known to anyone working within the area to maintain a safe atmosphere. Safe operation of the machine and personal safety must be paramount. Proper safety gear and communication need to be completed prior to operating. Be aware of any battery gases, engine fuels, combustible items, lit cigarettes or open flames near the machine and do not operate if any flammable or combustible items are present. For the ultimate safety, it is important to have a visible, safely mounted and accessible fire extinguisher within the operators reach. Maintaining a clear area around charging stations and work surfaces is important as tools or clutter could damage the boom lift or cause tire punctures etc. Daily Maintenance Before engaging in activity, it is vital to do a visual inspection and consult the maintenance records to make sure all items are up to date and safe prior to operation. These industrial machines rely on lifting and supportive mechanisms to stabilize the weight. Straps, fasteners and chains need to be checked they are in good condition. Single-use fasteners and components must not be reused as they may fail and become extremely dangerous. Environmental contamination can be prevented by properly discarding oils safely in an approved container. Adequate ventilation and lighting are essential in garages, workshops and along workbenches. To organize and specify, maintenance is categorized into a variety of subsections including Annual Maintenance, Quarterly Maintenance, Programmed and Commissioning Maintenance Intervals. Maintenance Inspection Report Key components of the boom lift are divided up to categorize the inspection process. Popular categories include Engine, Drive Chassis, Platform, Booms, Turntable, Controls and Function. Improperly conducting maintenance can lead to unsafe working conditions, damaged components, reduced performance and ultimately downtime. The maintenance inspection report extend the performance and service life of the machine and needs to be accurately maintained to ensure the machine is safe to run and that the machine is capable of performing properly. Commissioning refers to a list of one-time maintenance procedures to be complete at 50 hours and at 150 hour intervals. Annual and Quarterly maintenance procedures need to be performed once or multiple times a year. Maintenance procedures are based on the operating hours of the boom lift and programmed maintenance may be conducted during pre-delivery machine preparation. Prior to operating your equipment, check your maintenance manual to make sure all of the fluid levels, oil changes, battery life and maintenance are up to date. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
